Sugar Mas’ National Carnival: December 23, 2025 – January 3, 2026
From the infectious rhythms of the steelpan and the brass band to the dazzling costumes of the masquerades, clowns and stilt-walking Moko Jumbies, Sugar Mas’ is a vibrant expression of Kittitian and Nevisian pride. Sugar Mas’ a.k.a. the St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival is a high-energy celebration of culture, heritage and island spirit.
Hosted during the Christmas season, Sugar Mas’ balances revelry with reverence. Early December sees the staging of the much-loved “In the Spirit of Christmas” concerts, featuring choirs and performers who fill the air with songs and hymns that celebrate the “reason for the season.’ It’s not uncommon for midnight service churchgoers to change into sneakers and hit the road for an early morning street jam. That’s just how things roll in this spirited twin-island nation.
As the carnival excitement builds, so does the energy with pageants, calypso and Soca competitions, street parades and a Children’s Carnival Parade. One of the highlights of Sugar Mas’ is J’ouvert, a French creole word meaning “daybreak” or “dawn.” This hours-long, stamina-testing street jam gets underway in the wee hours of Boxing Day. Revelers dance through the streets and welcome the sunrise covered in paint, mud and pure joy.
Sugar Mas’ blasts into the New Year with the colorful Grande Parade of costumed troupes and winners of the various pageants and competitions on January 1st. The following day is the exuberant, no-holds-barred Las’ Lap street jam. Comprised of parade revelers from the day before and everyone else who wants to join the party, Las’ Lap signals the end of carnival.

Culturama: July 23 – August 4, 2026
Discover the heart and soul of Nevis at Culturama, the island’s signature summer festival, where tradition and modern island flair unite in a vibrant celebration of culture and heritage. First hosted in 1974, Culturama was commemorates Emancipation of the island’s enslaved on August 1st, 1834. To that end, the festival which has grown from one week to several, culminates around that date. Culturama promotes and celebrates the island's African and Caribbean heritage that serves as the foundation of Nevis' proud identity.
This exciting summer festival bursts to life in mid- to late July, with kaiso shows, pageants, a talented youth competition, poetry readings, folklore performances, and colourful street activities. Standout events include the Mr. Kool and Miss Culture Competitions, the Emancipation Day Jump Up or “Long Jam” and a crowd favorite, the Art, Craft and Food Fair. Culinary lovers are drawn to the day-long fair, where patrons can savor Nevisian favorites like goat water, conchie, and freshly prepared seafood, alongside a wide variety of produce, local drinks and sweet treats. The summer festival has expanded to embrace regional talent as well, hosting the acclaimed Miss Caribbean Culture Pageant, which features representatives from across the region, including Belize.
From myriad day-time events, evening pageants and competitions followed by late-night after parties, Culturama offers endless means to celebrate. The early-morning four-mile “Long Jam” and the Grand Culturama Street Parade and Las’ Lap bring the festival to an unforgettable climax on the first Monday and Tuesday in August.

Nevis Mango Festival: July 3-5, 2026
When your little island produces 44 varieties of mangoes, you may want to shout if from the roof tops or perhaps host a festival that pays homage to this succulent and mouth-watering fruit. That’s just what Nevis has been doing for more than a decade.
Held each summer, this ultimate foodie adventure features a series of mouth-watering and fun-filled events centered around the Nevis mango. The Mango Festival is designed not only to promote Nevis’ iconic mangoes and memorable hospitality, but also to serve as an economic boost during the traditional tourist “off-season.” In addition to visitors, the festival also attracts thousands from neighboring St. Kitts who make the short hop across the channel by ferry, water taxi or private boat.
“For the Love of Mangoes” is the festival’s signature event, which showcases dozens of local chefs preparing creative dishes and drinks for patrons to sample.
